Repairing our education system

As a former principal and teacher, Andy understands and appreciates the meaningful impact educators can have on their students. The key to opportunity is a quality public education for all young Americans. He believes it’s more important now than ever to ensure teachers have the resources they need to do their jobs well and thrive in the classroom, and inspire a generation of future leaders.

Andy will work to help create jobs in North Carolina by strongly supporting and encouraging funding for community colleges, vocational schools, and apprenticeship programs – such as those provided by Isothermal, Blue Ridge Community College, and A-B Tech – to prepare young and displaced workers with the training they need to be a part of the 21st century workforce.

Even though we homeschooled our children and are in the last year of doing this we believe the public school system needs a lot of help. From common core to better pay for teachers (our son teaches at East High), the public school system needs to be overhauled.
